North Field West LNG Project: Technip Energies Wins QatarEnergy EPCC Contract

North Field West LNG

North Field West LNG Contract Award

The North Field West LNG expansion has moved ahead after QatarEnergy awarded a major EPCC contract to a joint venture led by Technip Energies with CCC and GAC. The contract covers onshore LNG facilities and supports Qatar’s long-term production growth strategy.

The joint venture will deliver two mega LNG trains, each with a capacity of 8 MTPA. The design replicates trains currently under development for the North Field South project, ensuring operational efficiency and cost optimization. The combined output from these trains will add approximately 16 MTPA of LNG production.

The North Field West LNG development forms part of Qatar’s broader North Field expansion program. Along with North Field East and North Field South, the project will increase Qatar’s LNG export capacity from 77 MTPA to 142 MTPA. This expansion reinforces Qatar’s leadership in global LNG markets and helps meet rising energy demand.
Carbon Capture Integration in North Field West LNG

A key feature of the project is its carbon management strategy. The development will capture an additional 1.1 MTPA of CO₂, increasing total carbon capture from North Field South and North Field West to 2.2 MTPA. This approach highlights QatarEnergy’s commitment to reducing LNG production emissions.
Technip Energies Strengthens Qatar Presence
Technip Energies has maintained a strong presence in Qatar since 1986, playing a critical role in multiple LNG developments. CEO Arnaud Pieton stated that the award reflects QatarEnergy’s trust and strengthens the long-term partnership. The company, along with CCC and GAC, aims to deliver world-class LNG facilities with improved efficiency and lower carbon intensity.

Technip Energies operates globally across LNG, hydrogen, sustainable chemistry, and CO₂ management. With more than 17,000 employees in 34 countries and €6.9 billion in 2024 revenue, the company continues to lead large-scale energy and decarbonization projects worldwide.
