The GSPC Uniper LNG deal marks a major step in strengthening India’s long-term gas supply security. **Uniper SE and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) signed a 10-year agreement for up to 0.5 MTPA LNG deliveries into India starting January 2028.

Under this agreement, Uniper will supply LNG to GSPC through LNG terminals located on India’s west coast. The partnership aims to ensure competitive gas supplies and support rising natural gas demand.

The agreement follows the recent meeting between **Narendra Modi and **Friedrich Merz in Ahmedabad. The LNG partnership reflects growing energy collaboration between India and Germany.

India’s natural gas consumption is rising due to industrial growth, CGD expansion, and cleaner fuel adoption. The GSPC Uniper deal helps bridge the demand-supply gap and stabilize LNG availability.

Avantika Singh, Managing Director of GSPC, stated that the company is aggressively expanding its gas trading presence. She highlighted that the GSPC Uniper deal is a strategic move to secure long-term competitive LNG and strengthen the company’s portfolio.

Carsten Poppinga, CCO of Uniper SE, emphasized that the partnership showcases Uniper’s LNG trading capabilities and strengthens relationships with government-owned energy companies.
